Ofsted to overturn the grading of “Inadequate” at Cherubs Pre-school, Linton https://www.change.org/p/ofsted-ofsted-to-overturn-the-grading-of-inadequate-at-cherubs-pre-school-linton It is up to each and everyone to decide to sign or not to sign. We are lucky as we do not have the internet on site and similar scenario is highly unlikely. However, almost every parent would give a consent in my setting to post their child's photo to them if I could. I signed this petition with a comment: I am both an Early Years provider and a parent of three children. Statutory framework does not state that nurseries or pre-schools should implement NO mobile phone policy, it sta…

I have just posted an article for members to read. The day of the inspection part 1. I have continued my conversation with our friendly inspectors and in today's article Justine tells me all about how an inspection starts and about how she uses observations and documentation to make her judgements. I hope it's useful!

I have just posted part 1 of our articles about 'real inspectors and real inspections' - you can read it here. You will read that the inspectors cover very specific things during the pre-inspection phone call. If you have had experience of this notification call you can tell us all about it here!

As you know by now I am responsible for organising, writing and booking contributors for the articles that appear on this lovely forum. At the moment I'm in the process of talking to different inspectors about their work and about how inspections are conducted. I am keen to get the views of colleagues who have been inspected since September 2015 (i.e. since the CIF came in). If you could be tempted to put your views onto a questionnaire that would be very helpful - This isn't about 'Ofsted bashing' this is about sharing with each other what an actual inspection is like - good, bad and everything in between. All of the responses will be kept confidential and forum members…

Hi I have a pack away setting and was thinking of buying a folding den from EYR. Has anyone got one ? I was wondering how sturdy they are when up and how difficult is to set it up. We have other things that we use for dens but thought this particular one looked roomy and already has a cover and we have lots of large materials to drape over it as well. I would rather buy having heard reviews of it and I can't see anything anywhere - can you help please? V

New Supervisor

We were last inspected in November 2014 and as we received a "good" rating, we were advised that we would probably not be inspected again until towards the end of the next cycle (which starts Sept 16). We do now however have a new Supervisor starting on 11th April and wonder whether they will bring forward our inspection in light of this? Does anyone have experience of being inspected shortly after a new Supervisor/Manager starting?

What does outstanding look like ?

Hi was just wondering if anybody out there with an outstanding grade would be willing to share some photos of their settings ? I have just paid for a mock inspection today as past two inspections have been good but staff have put in lots of work to push us to hopefully getting outstanding next time but have been left a bit confused by feedback we got today. One of the things the lady said was that our displays weren't wow enough I tried asking her what she meant by this and she just said we need to catch the inspection the moment she walks in , they need to look and go wow that's brilliant, so am still a little confused thought if anybody could share what outstanding look…

and we achieved a good we are so pleased. We have had a awful time as a group the last few months sickness, break ins, flooding, staff leaving and new staff joining plus new management making big changes and huge demands. We were two marks off outstanding which is slightly frustrating but 8 weeks ago we were all on the verge of handing our notices in, so to know that we have made so much progress in those few weeks with a very new and inexperienced team is just amazing. And I have to say she was the nicest inspector and very approachable :-)
