The morning staff at the playschool turn up at 8-30, at 8-45 the door buzzer went it was a lady from ofstead to say she was their to inspect us, we had no warning of this. As it has been snowing in norfolk this week their was not many children turn up, as the morning session is for the younger children and their was only one funded child she decided that she would wait until the afternoon session to observe the children. At least I had prior warning as 1 of the staff went in to the loo to text me. She observed us for the afternoon and said she would return today mid morning to see paper work that was not on the premise. And give use the feed back at lunch time. I cannot s…

In our setting the children have a photo of themselves on their peg and undrneath their name. When they arrive they take their name and put it on the self registration board. I'm I breaking any confidentiality by doing this? I have signed permission from all parents to put the photos up.

Ofsted -early Years Framework

Hi all, Just published new framework for Registration and Inspection of settings. This is Ofsteds latest update. On reading through I noticed this; paragraph 53; 53. Ofsted will seek an application for a criminal records disclosure for each person who has given consent unless the applicant can satisfy Ofsted by demonstrating proof of a recent disclosure. Does this mean that Ofsted won't necessarily do new CRB checks for managers / new applicants for registration if they have a recent CRB. CRB's are therefore transferable in some instances? What do you think? Peggy

Staff Protection Policy
by Guest- 5 replies

I'm not sure where I heard this, but I understand that OFSTED expect to see a policy on Staff Protection - about issues such as false allegations etc I guess. To some extent this already comes under the Child Protection Policy, but I guess they are wanting things like how staff can be advised to adopt sensible practice to avoid this happening, e.g being within eye and earshot of a colleague when changing a child wherever possible; staff checking on colleagues who have been on their own with a child for several minutes to make sure everything is Ok. I have briefly checked the resources available here but couldn't see this one. That may be because I'm not very good at …

Calling all members of local authorities! Does anybody know about the statutory requirements of a local authority when dealing with a pre-school which received an inadequate 1 rating at their Ofsted? How much input must they have in order to improve practice? Is this written down somewhere? Thanks everyone, Cerys.

Hi again Well as I have said we recently had our ofsted inspection. I think it went well considering all thats happened here lately and our early stages of thing, we acheived an all round satisfactory in every area. Our paper report came in and where as its mostly positive, there are a few sentances relating to our staff (who were extrememly nervous on the day). I'm thinking of reproducing a copy for each parent and including it with our monthly newsletter. Do you all think this is a good idea? I also considered giving them a sheet where they can ask any questions and sign of to say they have all seen the report. Any questions would either be answered in p…
