Birth To Three In Inspection

Having read "Are you ready for inspection" documents, can anyone clarify whether B23 is compulsory. It states Inspectors won't judge on this but we are expected to be following it? Is my brain dead or is this a contradiction? Ofsted Inspectors are receiving three days training to enable them to inspect to the new format, we are expected to understand and implement it with no training and without any knowledge of how the Inspectors will be taught to interpret the criteria. Hey, whats new Peggy

I have just read with great interest a newsletter from PLA Regional office - a paragraph entitled OFSTED ANNOUNCES CHANGES TO EARLY YEARS INSPECTIONS IN ITS EARLY YEARS BULLETIN - NOVEMBER 2004. Some of this article was not news to me but this bit caught my eye: ' Finally we asked if we should take account of quality assurance schemes endorsed by Investors in Children (IiC) in our inspections. Ofsted has decided not to pursue this proposal as part of the new inspection framework, although we will still continue to note membership of such schemes.' At our nursery we and the committee have taken the decision not to pursue a QA scheme for the time being, possibly u…

Ofsted Next Week - Maybe?
by Guest- 26 replies

We might be "Ofstedded" next week! The leader and her deputy are going round in ever-decreasing circles, chasing their own tails. They are trying to move mountains and maybe they are failing. I think it is best for OFSTED to see us as we are - nothing false. We are not so good at self-appraisal, so we do need an outside influence! I think that settings such as ours should be able to accept inspection, and take any appropriate advice that is offered. I would dearly love to be involved. And I would like to hear what the inspector has to say. But only the leader, her deputy and some of the management committee will be party to the appraisal.. In a f…
