Hi I am aware that in the EYFS statutory requirement it says ' when assessing communication, Language and literacy skills, practitioners must assess children's skills in English'; I just wanted to have some idea how settings go about this as we have several children who are very fluent in their home language but struggle when speaking in English. Also with regards to understanding their understanding in their home language is very good yet they won't understand properly in English. Just wanted an insight as to what other settings do Thanks Sumayya

Obviously doing references, qualification checks, DBS etc but what about right to work declaration and medical declaration? I asked at pre school and looked through previous managers paperwork but can’t find anything like this? Thanks in anticipation

Hi is this I need some help please regarding safeguarding (DSL) we have 2 designated Safeguarding leads, however at some point during the year we have both of the DSL away and that leaves no safeguarding staff, even tho all staff are level 3 and are all first aid trained. i am wondering for occasions like this is it possible if one of the staff has the mandatory safeguarding online e course? is this sufficient because i am aware that the nursery at all times during opening hours has to have a safeguarding lead at all times. Any help/guidance will be much appreciated. Thanking you all in advance. Rukaiya

I have a child who will be turning three during 18/19. They are going to access their local playgroup for 6 hours per week, this is term time only. They want their hours with me stretched - is this possible? Do I just need to complete a stretched Provider Agreement and SCC will work the hours out? Sorry if this is a repeated topic but I'm new to the site!
