Hi, I am working on a foundation degree assignment. I would like to know your views upon how the introduction of the foundation stage had an impact on pre school education. How has the change from the desirable learning outcomes to the early learning goals affected education? What impact has it had on training and delivery? Are there any grey areas? Have any new policies been put in place as a result? Please waffle as much as you like, your experiences will be of value to my essay. Thanks

I am a final year student needing help with my special study about leadership in early years. I would be very grateful if you could spend 5 mins answering a few questions. 1)Do you feel confident as a leader? if so, how do you feel this confident was built? if not, why? 2)Have you ever had or been offered training on leadership? (please state name & comment about it). 3) Do you feel more support should be provided for leadership in early years? 4) How would you describe your leadership skills? 5) Do you feel your leadership skills affect your daily work? if so, how? Thankyou for answering my questions this will be very helpful!…

I'm a second year ASEY BA/QTS student and my course is going really well (yes i'm a guy lol). at the moment i'm in a nursery setting on placement and i'm achieving many of my standards. however, once i finish this placement i have to write up a 2,500 word critique on the foundation stage document. i'm having trouble finding any negativity other than the obvious ones on play and extending the foundation stage approach to the further years. any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated thanks a lot Phil

Boys & Outdoor Provision

I am concerned about our underachieving boys and am researching into how I may be able to improve their learning through our developing outdoor environment. We are in the process of creating an environmental garden area adjacent to the hardstanding outdoor provision and would welcome anyones ideas or experiences relating to what boys prefer to do and how to plan for raising their achievement through this. I'm new to nursery and am in an inner city school. Our boys just seem to want to chase each other and flit from one activity to another. Its quite difficult to get them to investigate or explore once outside yet they choose to spend most of their time in the outdoor envi…

Hi there This is new to me. I was advised to try this forum as there may be lots of people out there interested in the same topic as I am researching. I am doing a PDA in Childcare and Education and I am conducting a study to see if there is still a place for the traditional playgroup. I am the Play Leader of what I would call a traditional playgroup in Scotland. We are managed by a volunteer committee, have paid qualified staff, are funded by fees, fundraising and grants and provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment for our 2yrs 3 months - 4 yrs children. Our main emphasis is on play and the social and emotional development of the child. We are very f…

Hi everyone! I'm hoping to collect a selection of your ideas/suggestions so that I can decide how much contact my new YR class should have with the rest of the school from next September. (This is my 1st year at the school) This year has proved to be an absolute nightmare for some of my more timid children. We have morning playtime at the same time as the rest of the school, with a choice of our reception playground (which anyone else from the school can come to at that time) and "the big playground" which is around the other side of the school building. This is OK, and so long as I stay with the little ones until 1/2 term or so it's not a real problem. It'…

I am studying for my HNC and have chosen the changing role as my research assignment, but an struggling with books, any ideas. I would also appreciate any comments on our role, the workload and wages, so I can build up an idea off what goes on around the country. I am of the feeling that planning and paperwork are getting too much without time to do it. Does anyone have non-contact time for this? I would be grateful for any comments.

Hi I'm doing a degree course and would like some opinions on whether there is a place for "gun" role play in the early years setting?

I am currently completing my dissertation looking at how I can raise boys achievement using outdoors as a vehicle. I have observed that the majority of boys in my setting seem to prefer the outdoors to inside and appear to be engaged in a wider range of activites for extended periods of time. I would be really interested in any observations anyone may have noted in their own settings or any outdoor activites that have really helped the boys to develop their social or literacy skills. thanks

Having posted a questionnaire the wrong side of christmas on the end of a topic that seems to have fallen quiet I thought that maybe it has been over looked in other words ...... pretty please with sugar on the top if you have 2 minutes to tick a few boxes the please click on the link below..... any one can fill it in who is connected to a preschool setting, day nursery or toddler group. questionnaire I wondered if an official "questionnaires corner" may help draw people towards anyones questionnaires? so that they dont get forgotten or over looked
