What Are They Looking For

Hi all

Have you had an inspection recently?

I wanted to get a bit of feedback on what the main things are people are finding that ofsted are bringing up in the inspections.

I have just started in a setting and ofsted will be due any day, so just trying to work out where tostart with everything.

SEF is up to date and paper work. but you know what these inspectors are like!!!

thanks all

Well we are just in the process of re-registering due to change of registered person and yesterday we had our application visit from a really lovely Ofsted inspector.

She told us that we would be inspected within 7 months of our new certificate being issued and to be ready for the focus to be on safeguarding and continuous improvement.

She also suggested that on the front page of our SEF we should summarise our:

Strengths

Weaknesses

Areas for improvement.

She said that these should then be backed up in the main body of the SEF, but that being on top of those issues would get us some serious brownie points.

Hope that's useful.

RR

I'm not wanting to sound mean, and I can totally understand why you are concerned, but personally I think you should start where you think the most urgent issues are, rather than worrying about what Ofsted are going to look for. At the end of the day the most important thing is not what Ofsted think but about the experience that your children have at your setting. I hope that makes sense.
