Guest
Hi just a monster query!! Apparently teachers providing the national curriculum from september will be entitled to 10% PPA time to plan/reflect - does this include foundation stage teachers????? Also has anyone got any ideas about how your school will meet this non-contact time allocation? Any thoughts please Cheers J
AnonyMouse_1027
The only thing i know at my childs school being a governer is that they are using the NTAs to take the classes (not sure how parents are going to take this though)!!!
Guest
There has already been a thread about ppa in the forum very recently - can someone clever put in a link?

AnonyMouse_79
Certainly should include Foundation Stage Teachers.
Guest LesleyAnn
Hi It does mean Foundation Stage teachers are having to really think hard about how to do this. It may be that there are supply teachers in for covering older children's classes with a music or French session so why shouldn't there be teachers in for regular cover in Foundation stage class as well??? It has got to be better than a whole extended song time in the hall etc.But it entirely depends on what your class/school set up is and there probably isn't an easy answer. Plenty of opinions in our school about ppa but more interested in the mechanics of how people will provide for it ie from a management point of view. AnonyMouse_73
Hi jacqui The PPA time should include FS teachers as well. In our school we have PPA altogether for FS and KS1 and KS2 on another day. classes are covered by TAs who are paid an extra allowance for this and non class based teachers (eg Head and deputy!!). Other activities going on include sports and music specialists but that doesnt include FS. As far as I know it seems to work quite well. Guest
Hi everyone, It certainly does include FS teachers but just heard today from my Head that the Heads association have voted to withdraw support for it. We are continuing what we are doing now so on a Fri I get 1 hour and half my ta covers and we have a tennis/basket ball coach to teach ball skills it has been ;brill. AnonyMouse_79
Why am I not surprised? Some of the 24 tasks are realistically non delegatable (is that a word?), but the PPA time has to be a bonus?
AnonyMouse_3307
I'm certain ppa will be part of the teachers pay and conditions and therefore will be applicable to teachers in primary schools regardless of whether you teach nursery or Y6, you are a qualified teacher! The NAHT has withdrawn as a signatory to the original multi union agreement in relation to workforce remodelling, which the NUT had never signed up to in the first place, but as far as I understand the 10% will be statutory and so will have to be given regardless of what any union position is. Cx general guidance and regulations on workforce remodelling here
