  1. Yes i have at least 3 flat refusers in the gang...those children who asked to do something stare you down and shake their heads!
  2. oh thank god ! seriously !!! i have a child who's broken a bone in his foot....parent is insisting he comes to the forest with us on friday where we are going to jump of logs and climb trees! was surprised when i said no! others who turn up at the door with food in hand... can you feed him his breakfast ...he won't eat it for me! another....i can't understand why he's not toilet trained? maybe because he's looked after by 6 adults all of who think he's a precious little one and can do no wrong so don't ever tell him what to do! I am all for trying to say yes to the right things but sometimes you do NEED to say NO! IF blooming gentle parenting gets quoted to me once more this term....which if used correctly fine but not as an excuse to let your child get away with whatever they want!
  3. Ok ranty pants here ! is it just me or do the current cohorts parents feel like they need constant parenting support?
  4. Just wanted to jump on to this ....nothing to do with the registers but of course you would have the children keyworkers recorded somewhere . If you use tapestry then it might be on there or there may be a list printed somewhere but not sure it needs to be specifically links to a register? not quite what the statutory framework says i feel!?!? was this about ensuring they had a key worker if theirs was not available maybe?
  5. my favourite new word is gallimaufry...it describes my paperwork....a confused muddle or jumble!
  6. Oh i do so loath a twee room name too...sorry.! although i do understand the need for identifying the groups. I like the idea of colours or animals, trees, flowers or toys this way they are gender neutral, non age defining not stereotypical etc . I've always been opposed to rooms that identify the age of the children caterpillar/cocoon/butterfly etc...makes me feel very uneasy but can't exactly tell you why! maybe something to do with age rather than stage. When we named ourselves for rainbows years ago we left it in the hands of the children (older of course) ...i think i ended up as something quite strange!
  7. the week i removed it the fencing contractor said...oh i'd have paid you for that i needed some mature stuff for a garden im doing !😬
  8. the issue still exists that even with a 1-5 ratio for the two year olds 8x3 year olds bring in more income....why would you take the 2 year olds who require more help and support (as a generalisation!)
  9. I think we have to be careful here to consider the difference between exclusion ...eg refusing a child access to your setting after they have started and 'planning' as in do you have the right support services available to them? If you know that your team/support can only help x quantity of children with additional needs then is going over that number possibly detrimental to all your service users?
  10. this equates to annoyance in my house....even after taking a pick axe to it i still cant get rid! 😬 planting most seeds however still fills me with joy!
  11. What a great birthday present Steve. Thank you for all your support (and the team) over the last 2 decades.
  12. Just popped on to say we were outside today (nice weather here!) only to get bombarded with a swarm of honey bees! Don't have a policy for that one!!!! All fine and safe (no harm to man nor bee) but it did give me a bit of a shock !
  13. wonder where they nicked it from ? or ask if the won the postcode lottery???? (sorry flippant answer! :)
  14. surely all these things come under the same umberella ...as in if you are worried about a child do something about it ...and then follow up until you get answers....if we had all the separate issues listed on our staff noticeboards i feel none of us would read any of it!
  15. Our local maintained nurseries do not offer 30 hour places....it is uneconomic to do so !
  16. Not sure i have any intention of taking any more 2 year olds....why would i?? we get children coming to us because we charge reasonable fees for reasonable hours we are always considerably cheaper than a full day care nursery and actually provide 15 hours free and 32.5 hours for a small charge. Even with the increase in funding and the change in ratios the 2 year olds still don't bring in the same income per hour as the 3 year olds....simples!!!
  17. This is what happened last time of course and you are absolutely right we used to take 54 children over the day and now we take about 35 because they do either 15 or 30 hours, TBH its easier for us as practitioners but we have made it a firm either 5 mornings of 5 afternoon or 5 full days. I absolutely cannot afford to have people doing less. So much for parental choice !
  18. We too are having a tricky year group...all the same issues as ourselves....plus several still not toilet trained! I spent the weekend digging out old bricks buried in the garden !!! 😁
  19. OOh i could do with some of that! foil line it and your on!!!

  21. Hello all...sorry i havent been around! been really busy trying to sell my house and buy another....no way that i thought this process would take nearly a year of my life! i hope that by the end of today we will have come to the end of the road....hopefully positively but by this stage who knows! 😱 Work has been really busy ...most of the year has been spent trying to get an EHC in place for a child......i cannot tell you how many hours we have spent on that ...but now agreed finally ! just got to argue about money now as the borough she is in is bankrupt! New staff at work finally after looking since feb.....she's lovely but is making me feel very old ! i made a reference to the vicar of Dibley the other day and she hadn't got a clue what i was on about. haven't caught up on the gossip yet but hope you are all ok? xx FM

  24. Well im sending to 10 schools and not a single one has booked a visit yet !!! they think we can all jump when they shout🙄 we are having quite an ok time with he children though although i don't think any of them have ears! Little one from Ukraine has arrived and is trying to rule the roost (painted my tiles in the bathroom yesterday!!!) unfortunately Mum's friend was killed yesterday ...just awful.😪 Got to write reports this weekend but am seeing my sister for the first time in 3 years !!!!! ❤️ Hope you all have an amazing weekend xxxxxx
