  1. Some interesting points. The framework does mention small group and direct teaching alongside masses of free play too which is sort of how we are set up already so that bit works!. I think the majority of schools will use DM. We have already thought about a wish curriculum but i am finding all these different 'strands' tricky to manage. I always try to keep things simple , otherwise they just don't work well when you are toilet training/wiping noses and balancing a child on your knee. at the moment i just can't see the pathway to linking it all together!
  2. willl you also run your own curriculum...or just stick to DM?
  3. Which guidance will you use in September? Why? and will you also set up your own curriculum to run alongside??
  4. Thanks All i'm ok but yes a hard year....husband having lots of issues at work too and my kids have both just bought houses.....stress free not but all beginning to look forwards ❤️
  5. Wishing you a speedy solution xxxxxx
  6. Busy week here.....lots of transition stuff, a safeguarding concern (may be a ploy to get on the housing list!!!😱} Reports are going slowly!!! have had to cancel end of term party ....so some unhappy clients. Plus trustees meetings and a lovely phone call from a local childminder😊 more ups than downs....so that's good. Children are very unsettled though...needing lots of hugs and policing!
  7. Amazon???? there appeared to be some yesterday? (i havent bought powder paint for ages!)
  8. https://www.tts-group.co.uk/tts-powder-paint-/1003639.html
  9. we thought the children were being weird because of transitions.....nope they were all ill! unfortunately one of my little SEN ones has a pit of pica and constantly licks his fingers...he came down with it last week....not saying it was him but.......
  10. i have had my sixth case TODAY! ( i mean 6 in a day!!!!!)
  11. oh dear we have a chicken pox epidemic going on!!! Anyone else?
  12. Indeed ...i had visions of him climbing over the walls day one !!!
  13. So after further discussion they have decided to use a senior TA who is well versed in complex children and experienced and have advertised for another as this little one will need two split over the day
  14. Thanks all...panic averted school have come to their senses !
  15. EHC plans are based on needs not on hours now. our level 4 funding equates to about16k which is not enough for a full time staff member in school. Mind you our really complex chap is going in to mainstream and we have just been told the dinner lady has been asked to support him......not really sure that she is going to have the skills to deal with him....he's not a plate of chips! suspect she won't get any specialist training and she hasn't done any intervention support that we know of.....makes us feel a bit cross that they feel we are doing the same job that an unqualified dinner lady can do (i have nothing against dinner ladies BTW)
  16. I was assuming all EHCP's are equal????? it appears not from your post. EHCP's around here are given a rating for funding 1-5 a 4 rating (high needs) would fund them for around 3/4 of each day a level 5 covers most but not all of their hours at school.....is this not the same around the country? i thought this was set by the government but maybe not!??
  17. This is such a difficult subject isn't it? My daughter has a minor disability and i know how hard it was to get support for her. I am very pro children going in to mainstream but only when it allows them to have the opportunity to thrive....IMO it's not ok to just be OK. With school budgets being so tight the money that should be ring fenced to help these children is so often used to support other things
  18. I think i may have to agree to the i've had enough of this year 🙄 I'm finding it really hard to continue to give at the level of our norm. The children do seem to be a challenge and i'm not really sure why. Loud, messy, cannot sit and eat at a table, extremes of learning like i have never experienced before....i have some reading and on ELG's already and some who cannot hold a pencil at all ( 2 still with reverse palmer grasps!) I have 5 summer born boys (some with EAL) who are NOT ready for school at all......look out reception teachers next years group are going to be a challenge! they are however at least toilet trained ...well except two of my little ones with ASD who are still struggling 😪 3 children on EHCP's has been a challenge too far i feel..... Having children with additional needs is an important part of our service but we have had such little support from any agencies this year, how do they expect these children to survive in school let alone thrive and do well? I am all for choice but if your child is unable to operate for any amount of time independently should they be in mainstream? (very controversial i'm sure) Right well moan over.... i have reports to write ARGGHHHHHHH!
  19. so a managed quarantine hotel you have to access testing. The day 8 test is the last one but you must stay for 10 days to ensure you are fully free of covid. I would be asking for a test to be done before returning to preschool on or after the 10th day the results of which could be sent to you. (this might be rapid flow or pcr depending on your rules.
  20. and on open days.... Government guidance states that you should complete thorough risk assessments before running transitional, taster and open days in your setting, to ensure that they are run in line with your system of controls and align with the advice contained within the guidance for your setting and the roadmap out of lockdown. This means that traditional transitional and open days are unlikely to be feasible this academic year but the Department for Education is not restricting individual settings from designing events which maintain the integrity of bubbles or consistent groups, and adhere to the system of controls in place.
  21. new guidelines out today Government guidance states that if you are planning to hold a leavers' event, you should avoid hosting large group gatherings indoors for more than one bubble (if your setting operates bubbles) or consistent group. However, as outdoor events are generally lower-risk, once you have undertaken a risk assessment and planned your event in line with your system of controls, you may consider an outdoor event (for example a leavers’ celebration or prom) that caters for more than one bubble or consistent group, as long as the groups continue to be kept separate. Any parents attending outdoor events must adhere to current social distancing requirements. Where outdoors spectators can gather in groups of up to 30 (again, multiple groups of 30 are permitted).
  22. I would definitely be trying to cut down on quantity and focus on quantity in light of the new reforms,
  23. IS it worth going down the in the moment planning route and having focus children for the week....then setting a next step at the end of that week? We are having the opposite at the moment...we are so busy that none of us have any time to do obs! i need an extra 6 arms/legs!
  24. I've asked the powers to clarify!!! (won't hear till monday!)
