If anyone is interested, here's a link to the latest document Next Steps to Early Learning and Childcare Next Steps "The 10-Year Childcare Strategy in 2004 set out the Government’s plans to make early learning and childcare in this country truly world class. It included an ambitious policy programme which was motivated by a wish to see every child develop to their full potential, help parents to work and allow them to make informed choices about their children’s care and family life. I really need to get rid of cats in my FS/YR1 garden, They have 'poohd' in the sand AND on top of the cover and I am desperate to give my children access to their sand pit as soon as possible. I have been asked to find prices for cat scarers but Iwas wondering if anyone could recommend a really effective one? I hope that I've posted this in the correct place , Thanks in advance , Kazz

Help Needed Please!

Hi all, Just wondered whether anyone knows of a resource/book/website that suggests ideas for child initiated activities for the 6 areas of learning? At the end of every day, we always ask the children what their interest are and feed this into our planning of child choice activities but I am wanting to supplement their ideas with some new and exciting ones!! Can anyone help? I am sure if someone published a resource bank with ideas for child-intiated learning across the 6 areas, they would make a fortune!!! I am a teacher in a foundation class if that makes any difference! Thanks everyone, Tink

Sustained Shared Thinking

How can I make sustained shared thinking viable (during focus activities) in class of thirty children if it's most effective on a 1:1 level? I can understand the thinking behind it and it makes absolute sense - I try to use it all of the time when I can but cant see how I can involve 24 children in their groups involved in sustained shared thinking with a scaffolding adult while i am with a focus group. Would it be better if the TA moved around the classroom scaffolding while I worked with my focus group? Any ideas? What do you do?
