My manager handed me a UNICEF Report today which looks extremely interesting and likely to give a lot of food for thought - it outlines and compares standards of care and education, measured by a set of benchmarks, in 25 countries. I haven't had time to sit down and have a good read yet - but think I will tonight! Just thought I'd share it as soon as possible...of course, no-one's got anything to do but read with 7 days til Christmas! Report_card_8.pdf

I've never done this before, and don't really know what I'm doing - so please be gentle with me. My dissertation for my BA is about worksheets and their use with pre-school settings. I wonder if you would be prepared to help generate some statistics about the numbers of settings who use worksheets? At this stage I don't need to know what your feelings are about whether worksheets should or shouldn't be used in pre-school - just whether or not your setting uses them! I am trying to fill in a funding application for the Early Years Capital Grant. We want to expand our outdoor space into what is currently a dead area between the setting access and our enclosed garden. One of the questions is How does this project meet the specific criteria for outdoor play? Does any one know what the specific criteria are? Hi everyone, i wonder if anyone can give me a definitive answer? im doing an essay about Every Child matters, but im only looking at 'enjoy and acheive'. However, i really want to write about extended schools. My question is whether you guys think that extended schools are relevent enough to 'enjoy and acheive' to warrent including it?
