  1. Hi firststeps -

Diesel's correct - there is no way to share a child completely between two settings. The best you can do is to agree which setting the journal would be in, and then make yourself, or a member of staff from the other setting, a member of staff in both settings. You can then restrict access to other children in the setting by making that member of staff the keyperson for the child, and then allow staff to only be able to see their own keychildren.

  2. We've been, although several years ago now. It's very atmospheric, and really gives the feel of the 1940s. I'd recommend it, certainly if you're engaged enough to have read a book about it! I wouldn't bank on Benedict Cumberbatch being there though if that is what is driving you.

  3. Hi all -

Thanks so much for your responses - we truly value them. Thanks to those of you who posted who have suffered a similar loss, and thanks Upsy Daisy for your eloquent post to which others have responded. Many friends who are parents have said to us: "I can't imagine what you are going through", but I think parents are all able to contemplate and imagine the impact it would have on them.

We'll be getting back to full participation in this wonderful community over the next few weeks - in the meantime I know Sue, Lauren, Louise and the Matts will be able to help you out with anything you need, and also to make contact with Helen and me if you need it.

    Love from both of us.

  4. Hi all -

I need to tell you about something that has happened to us, and I'm sorry that it will not be easy reading. If you're feeling fragile, perhaps it is better for you not to read further at the moment - I have to leave that to you.

Just over a month ago, we lost our lovely daughter Annie, who was three months short of her eighteenth birthday. Her death was completely unexpected; until then she had been a happy healthy girl. As we have subsequently discovered, this is rare, but not unheard of, and the (unproveable) tentative cause of death is being given as Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).

There is an accurate account of the circumstances here. Annie's funeral is on 10th April (this Friday).

I feel I should tell you this because the FSF is a part of our life, and we feel embedded in you as a community. Also, some FSF members have found out from other sources and contacted us, and we didn't want others to find out in the same way.

And also, we need to let you know that the FSF will be closed on Friday, and we won't be able to offer any of the Tapestry or FSF support you may be used to, via phone, email or support ticket. The wonderful FSF team, who have done so much to keep things going while we come to terms with the loss of Annie, will be joining Helen and me to celebrate her life.

  5. We're happy to let folk know that we've been chatting to Early Excellence, and Tapestry will be linking to their Baseline Assessment. Those of you who use Tapestry will know that we already enable observations to be tagged with CoEL and Leuven assessments, and we feel our observation based learning journal system will be a natural fit. :1b

We'll let you know if/when we agree to incorporate other systems.

  6. Hi Amanda -

You need to be a FSF member to buy Tapestry, so yes, unless your LA subscribes to the FSF you need to pay the £20 (plus VAT) as well as the £30 (plus VAT). If that makes it too expensive for you, just let us know and we'll re-imburse you - sorry if any of the payment info was unclear.
