  1. What happens when you try to upload a longer video? Do you receive an error message? If so, what does it say?

Uploads are limited to a maximum size of 100MB, which should be enough to upload several minutes of video. If you're hitting this limit with 2 to 3 seconds of video it would suggest that your videos are recorded in a very high quality which results in a larger file size per second of video. Modern phones and tablets often record in full HD by default, so you might want to reduce the resolution. If you could let me know about the aforementioned error message, if any, and what sort of device you're using to record your videos, I should be able to advise you further.

  2. The transfer does not merge children or relatives, you would just end up with two copies of any that you already had. Currently if you want to merge those you need to manually go through each observation and swap the children around until one child has no obs, then delete that child. We are intending to add tools to make this merging easier, but we would never let Tapestry merge any profiles without a manager initiating it.

There is no time limit for a transfer, but in the early stages it is possible for it to be cancelled by the sending or receiving setting. Given that it's been a month, I think it's very unlikely that anything has been lost forever so they should be able to send you the child again.

  3. In the last couple of days we've made a change so that the relative comments box does not appear when viewing a report if the box is empty. You and the relatives should still be able to see the box when you edit the report, and after you have added some text it will show up when viewing it. Can you not see the box when editing?

  4. Underneath the photos on the observations there is some text with a link which says "download these photos and videos". If you click that you'll get a popup with download links for the photos. You can use these to download the ones you want, then upload them as profile photos and delete the copies on your computer.

  5. The quickest way that I can think of would be to set your filters on the Observations page so that you just see the unapproved obs. Then select all the obs by choosing "All" next to "Select" at the top right. Then change "With 30 obs" to "Add to journal" and click "Go". When the page refreshes you will see the next 30 unapproved obs and you can repeat the process for each page of 30 obs until you've finished.

  6. No, they can't see them. You can either make the observation unapproved or still in the journal but only visible to staff. If you edit the observation, in the "Options" panel, under "Add to journal", you can select "After manager approval" (unapproved) or "Immediately, but only for staff" (staff only), to achieve this.

  7. It seems that the likes are copied to all the split obs, which shouldn't be happening. We will be fixing the problem in the next few days. If you'd like us to remove any likes from any obs, please send in a support ticket listing the dates and titles of the observations and whose likes you'd like removed and we'll sort it out.

  8. It is possible to see in some places (in the Tapestry app or by hovering the mouse over the number of liks when viewing the observation in a web browser) but it's not very clear. I have added a job to our "to do" list to improve this.

  9. Do you mean that it is already typed into the login page when you visit it? If so, you have saved it in your browser, not in Tapestry. This tutorial shows how to delete saved passwords in various browsers. Be careful that you don't delete any other saved passwords that you need, and let me know if you get stuck with it. Tapestry will never automatically fill in a password for you.

  10. When was it that you printed off your journals? For a while recently there was a problem which meant that the compact and printer friendly formats were just doing the same as the default format, but this has since been fixed. You might want to give it a try again and see if it's any better now.

  11. As an absolute bare minimum you will need about 0.27 Mb/s (megabits per second). Using Tapestry in a web browser, that should allow you to upload a photo in about 30 seconds. You should easily be able to get quite a lot faster than that though, in 2016 the average UK upload speed was 3.7 Mb/s, which would do the same photo upload in just over 2 seconds.

  12. In the current version of Tapestry we've switched to a new PDF export for all the printable output. This allows us greater control of the page layout and means you have the choice to either keep the PDF on your computer or print it onto paper (or both). The default export format is mainly designed for viewing the PDF on screen. The compact version makes the text and spacing smaller to save paper when printing, and the printer friendly version is the same as the compact version but also removes background colours to save ink.

When you find that the sizes of observations are unpredictable, what exactly do you mean? Is it the text and/or images that change size, or is it the amount of space it takes up on the page? Do you see the difference when viewing the PDF on screen or is it only after it's been printed on paper?

  13. The relative accounts can be transferred along with the children. Just remember to tick the box to send them and then tick the box to receive them. There are a couple of things to bear in mind when transferring relatives.

    1. They will be inactive at the receiving setting when they arrive.
    2. They will keep the same email addressat the receiving setting, but their password will be removed.

Because of 1, the receiving setting will have to make them active before they are able to access. Because of 2, their passwords will need to be reset at the receiving setting. Also because of 2, they will either need to be made inactive at the sending setting or use a different password for the receiving setting. The reason for this is that the Tapestry app doesn't have the ability to choose which setting to login to. If you are registered at two settings with the same email address and password, the app will just log you into the first one it finds. If the relative no longer needs access to the sending setting, you should make them inactive there. Otherwise, if they need access to both settings and want to use the app, they need to have a different password for each setting.
