We give parents an information form to fill in when they come for their trial sessions with simple 'yes' or 'no' questions and we do a baseline tracker for our key children during the first half term. Sounds like you're after something a bit more specific but here's a copy of our form anyway, in case it's useful to you. :1b

I saw a post on here a while back from someone who said she was going to explain remembrance day on a superhero theme - i.e. superheroes are not only batman, spiderman etc but also policemen, firemen and soldiers. I thought that was a nice idea.

We use ours all the time as well, some things have already been mentioned above, e.g. for films about festivals from cbeebies or youtube, a cinema (we had popcorn too!) - we numbered the chairs and gave children a numbered ticket - they had to match to the correct chair and then watched 'Come Outside'. It has also been a shadow theatre, a drawing board, key groups look at their LJs on it, yesterday we had a drop-in Bhangra dancing workshop displaying an instruction video on it .... the possibilities are endless.
Thanks for the great links ExtraordinaryChicken - I must get onto TES iBoard and check out that virtual sparkler!

We sing this rhyme with fingers or children (or children holding candles if we're feeling brave!):
One little candle burning bright
Lights up the sky on Diwali night
Candle light is so much fun
We could do with another oneetc to five, then
Five little candles burning bright
Light up the sky on Diwali night
We love candles, there's no doubt
And now it's time to blow them outAlways goes down well :1b

I am still having trouble accessing the FSF and Tapestry - they both take longer than usual to load and Tapestry is very slow to respond.

You're so unlucky to have a humbug head - a couple of years ago one of the shepherds saw his mum, ran over to her and refused to come back and then one of the angels fell off the back of the stage and none of us noticed until somebody pointed it out! He still appeared at the end saying "They've all done very well" like old Mr Grace at Grace Brothers.
This year all our 46 Nursery children are narrating the story, a line each which they have all learned beautifully, and we were told at our 'dress rehearsal' yesterday that we will only have one hand-held microphone to pass around on the day. It's going to be such fun!
