  1. We’re the same Louby, we only have a couple obvious ones until we know the KW list (I thought that was being announced but not even mentioned), but I guess if staff on full pay we will stay open, though we won’t have any milk as cool milk have jumped in already to cancel milk deliveries. What is everyone else doing re staff wages? I’m seeing so many posts saying will only pay all SSP, surely that isn’t an option especially if they aren’t actually ill and if claiming all the funding they will be profiting quite nicely in some cases without as Boris says ‘standing by their employees’ 🤔
  2. We have decided that we won’t charge fee payers for the summer term, the decision was much easier for us when we knew we could keep the funding, we will lose approx £500 a week from fee payers which I know is minimal to settings like nurseries with much higher fee payers.
  3. Yeahhhhhh free coffee :-D I removed parent jobs as a not need to know bit of information under GDPR (just contact for them during the day) but asked all to send in last week, only have a couple I think, though one list I saw of keyworkers Posted by a school has nursery staff on it 🤷‍♀️
  4. I appreciate they’re all up to their necks too but a generic email that just said ‘we’re listening, send us your concerns/questions’ would have done not gone underground, easy for them to all go off homeworking :-(
  5. I agree, we finally heard from our EY team 2 days ago and that was to tell us something we already knew yet they were thanking people who had praised them for their support...what support was that? And now the EYA has decided to fight our corner, a decent small groups insurance package for what it b****y costs in the first place would have been a good start 😡 Stay strong everyone, let’s hope for some clarification today on open/not open, who for, what are staff pay liabilities going to be etc....
  6. We finally heard from our county today (Dorset) who are not clawing back anything from the rest of spring term and we will be funded for Summer Term also (with no claw back for that either)...which is good news and almost covers staff wages on FP, we can think about what we will do regards fee payers now, we have also been asked to take chn from other providers if their normal settings are closed and we have space. just saw on the news that USA have closed all schools today, will we follow soon or be asked to stay open through Easter Hols to help out 🤷‍♀️
  7. I did find it, but you’d think the ‘notifiable disease’ extension should be included on this advert with the other 3 optional extensions ...we have all of them :-/
  8. That seems about the size of it, I really can’t see where the difference in the ‘loss of revenue’ cover is apart from the amount you can claim up to, there must be some small print somewhere that give a different ‘loss of revenue’ cover than another, this is how they advertise the insurance on the EYA website, it says you can increase the amount but where does it say increasing the amount gets you ‘notifiable disease’ cover 😡
  9. What planet is she living on? ......go FM 👏 I’ve sent out info today, kind of skirted over the fee paying issue if we have to close for now, what are anyone else’s thoughts on this? And still no funding news, I think I might ask all funding parents to say their child is ill that will buy 2 weeks at the end of this term and 2 weeks at the start of the next (our agreement is already keep up to 2 weeks in a term), then we’d have to carry the odd one wanting a holiday later in the term (providing they can still go anywhere) sorted to end of April 😝 We’ve also decided we will close if both manager and deputy having to self-isolate at the same time, we don’t have a 3rd in charge and would be no one with DSL training so seemed easier, what is anyone else doing in that scenario?
  10. Hi Candela and welcome, not yet but will be posting ideas to do at home if it comes to it....my first challenge will be ‘toilet training for the over 3’s”’ ...if we are closed down and they are all self-isolating at home it will be the perfect time ;-)
  11. We are also on the hand washing on arrival, tomorrow I will send an action plan to parents updating regards ‘delay phase’, new continuous coughs, high temps (now we know the symptoms to be aware of) and covering closure due to staff shortages and enforced closure. We will be around £700 a week down from fee payers if we have to close, still no decision from our county re funding (which I think is despicable at this stage) and RSA won’t cover the ‘loss of revenue’ element on our insurance because we don’t have Group 5 - 9 insurance...that’s about 40k in premiums over the years for absolutely nothing 😡
  12. I can’t believe we are still free of the C word (and I don’t mean C*******s Sue). We have usually discussed, shared, planned and prepped for anything that’s being thrown at us by now 🤔 Where is everyone at with how they’re trying to managing C-V? (Apart from hand washing to the tune of baby shark but at least it’s more catchy than Happy Birthday) I guess the covering SSP for 14 days was good news in the budget but not so much that we seem to not have made the list of ‘exempt’ from small business rates list :-( I read a great article by Rebecca on FB but can’t find it on here?
  13. Did you do a 37 sept > July last yr Louby? Or maybe will next yr, our July to Sept fluctuates between 37/39 but always 38 Apr 1st to 31st Mar
  14. We are running a 12wk term but only funded for 11, then run 12 wk summer term but funded for 13 (all due to end of year falling in the term). The 20th March seems an early finish zigzag, will you go back on the Tues after Easter Mon? Are they the dates on your Lea term dates? Edit - the Cornwall term dates say ‘Spring’ (very pc ours still calls them Christmas and Easter) Hol starts Mon 30th?
  15. We are 4 wks too, finish Fri 3rd back Mon 20th, but claim the last week as 1st week of summer funding, which is a fuss as any chn going on to funding or increasing hours have to have it the week before we finish or they miss out on a week of their summer funding.
  16. One of ours was making some concoction, when I asked what she was making the answer was “wine” ...seems to be a theme, should we follow their interests 🤔 not to bad a week on the whole, finally feel as if we’re winning with a couple of our more challenging chn, county finally confirmed new funding rates and we are getting the full 8p, what more could we ask 🤷‍♀️
  17. Where are the Friday crew? Not really in isolation I hope :-/ has anyone else been panic buying 😂
  18. We do exactly that, our toilets don’t have a door, if nappies change staff have to use the further toilet area from the entrance to them and we prop a screen across, like the photo but one single/longer one, it’s low enough for other staff to see over put gives privacy to the child being changed.
  19. I just add a child’s name whether it’s regarding children or not just so staff see the app notification, it doesn’t go in the journal so not a problem.
  20. The only way I’ve found other than telling them is to add a child from each of their key groups so when they log in to the app it shows as a new notification (it doesn’t add to the child’s journal and can’t be seen by the parents).
  21. Edit (sorry seem to have lost the edit option?)...I realize ‘professional development’ is somewhere under management tab, was thinking as main tab :-)
  22. 🙋‍♀️ Could you add a CPD tag please? The ITMP will be interesting, we’ve been working this way for a couple of years but moved away from the focus child completing the paperwork, I ask staff to add #ITM to there obs to show the teachable input, it ensures they stay in the ITM mind set and I can see that they are :-)
  23. Hi, they don’t have an option and they had to complete a feedback form anyway, like you say it was weeks and even months before any feedback was shared/thought about and to be honest the training was forgotten about by then, hand outs were put out for all to look through but no one ever did, if you add a key child from each group staff get a notification when they open the app (relying on them to check the browser would never work).
  24. I think I’d be sending out something along the lines of “our recent survey highlighted that a number of families would like us to open for longer hours, whilst we are prepared to consider this; due to the current funding climate of the funding we receive an hour being less than the hourly fee rate we know we need to remain sustainable we would like to ask you about your willingness to make a small/reasonable (could specify amount) contribution towards the shortfall to cover the cost of consumables” (highlight the weekly shortfall you already carry’ give them a return form (or survey) with the 2 options: ”I understand the reason a contribution would be requested” yes / no ”I would be willing to make the small/reasonable contribution requested” yes / no Good luck :-)
  25. I’d also say September for 3yr funding (stay in 2 yr funding for Summer term), It surprises me how some chn get two yr funding then manage to meet 30hr criteria, I realize the 2yr funding stays in place regardless of changes to circumstances (don’t get me started on my thoughts about that!)
