“Ok, what do you want to sing”? ….Jingle Bells arghhhh!
So do I louby, children are either more than ready to ship out or becoming anxious because everyone (family) has been talking ‘big school’ at them since place allocations in April and until they start transition visits it’s far to early.
Then all the work involved with school transitions and new intakes, I’m struggling to recruit staff so not sure what I can offer come September and it seems endless funded 2 yr olds wanting places which isn’t helping and this is before more are funded, losing 28 to school but only have/know of 11 for the next school year …odd
I am quite exasperated with other professionals at the minute who send families/chn our way that will need higher levels of support without actually finding out what are current staffing situation is like or how many higher needs returners we are already supporting, and when you can’t immediately agree to a September start you are the bad guy 😡
Roll on the Summer hols 🙏
Ugh. I really feel for you! My staff had to be incredibly flexible in that respect. One year in the early days I only had 3 children at the start of the September term, with more joining as we moved towards the half term and (C word) I had one member of staff with me, and I didn’t take a wage until January. I can remember being annoyed that a childminder could have looked after 3 on their own, in their own home, whereas the rules demanded there should be two of us.

That was absolutely it! One of my staff had a SEND key child that she didn’t think was making any progress at all so I showed her this method and she was delighted and amazed! By using the scale she were able to identify where the child was mainly focussed and take an experience into that activity, and watch how the child interacted and extended their own learning.

I kept one going for several years until my daughter borrowed it for some decoration at work and it promptly died 🤭.
awe and wonder has to be a wasp nest. Absolutely incredible that the chomp away on my wood fence and then spit that gunk out to create something mind blowing!

I used to love the last term of the year! It somehow didn’t seem as stressful even though there was a lot to cram in! I think it was because the children were outside more and staff seemed that much more relaxed.

Fabulous! Could have done with that when I was doing my OU and had to research the scale for myself! I used it a great deal after that, and taught my staff. We found it helped hugely with observations and Mrs O was really impressed as she’d not come across it herself!

I am getting just a little excited! I started my training 50 years ago this month. I was one of a group of 23 students. Over the years sadly 3 have died but many of us have kept in touch. We had a 25 year reunion and next weekend we are meeting up for our 50th anniversary! I can't believe that it has been 50 years or that 12 of the original group will be there. The photo albums will be out for sure and lots of memories of our time together will be shared. It was a residential college so we lived and trained together!
Oh how fabulous! You really did get to know them then! I was thinking as I read this that I wouldn’t know the women I trained with at all, never mind remembering any names!

Also got all Zebedee’s bedding on the line so that’s all lovely and fresh for him. Smells fabulous. Lovely to hear an ice cream van going round today. Summer is on its way! (Although I’m stuck with ‘daisy, daisy, give me your answer do’ in my head )

Hope the bees leave you in peace from now on Finleysmaid. Well for me this week has been a total write off as have Covid. Been feeling rotten but am my own worst enemy as am not a good patient and try and do too much to prove I’m better and then wipe myself out! Do it every time. Tested positive on Monday and still feeling rubbish. Hope it goes soon.
So what are everyone’s plans for the coronation weekend?
Ugh. Feel better soon! I’ve heard of a few folk who have it at the moment.

Thanks for the link, I think I'll make one for GD x
She used card as she couldn’t source the Pellon in the time she wanted. She’s very much a ‘do it whilst the inspiration strikes’ kind of girl. 🤣🤭
