  1. I’m grateful for my beautiful two hour walk through a gorgeous valley to the beach in very hot sunshine! (Bliss) I’m extremely grateful that because his work is closed my son is digging my allotment ready to be rotivated.😀
  2. A little photo from my walk today. Walked 4.5 miles and only met three people. Social distancing, Cornish style!
  3. So in these very strange surreal and let’s face it scary times, I thought we needed a thread where we can post happy positive things with no mention of the ‘CV word’ Today I am blooming grateful that I do not have to go to work and can stay at home. I am grateful that it is a beautiful day and I am going to start getting my garden going for the summer.
  4. For our little ones who are finding this so hard to understand ❤ The Time We Spring-Cleaned the World The world it got so busy, There were people all around. They left their germs behind them; In the air and on the ground. These germs grew bigger and stronger. They wanted to come and stay. They didn’t want to hurt anyone - They just really wanted to play. Sometimes they tried to hold your hand, Or tickled your throat or your nose. They could make you cough and sneeze And make your face as red as a rose. And so these germs took over. They started to make people ill, And with every cough we coughed More and more germs would spill. All the queens and kings had a meeting. “It’s time to clean the world up!” they said. And so they had to close lots of fun stuff, Just so these germs couldn’t spread. We couldn’t go to cinemas Or restaurants for our tea. There was no football or parties, The world got as quiet as can be. The kids stopped going to school, The mums and dads went to work less. Then a great, big, giant scrubbing brush Cleaned the sky and the sea and the mess! Dads started teaching the sums, Big brothers played with us more, Mums were in charge of homework And we read and played jigsaws galore! The whole world was washing their hands And building super toilet roll forts! Outside was quiet and peaceful, Now home was the place for all sports. So we played in the world that was home And our days filled up with fun and love, And the germs they grew smaller and smaller And the sun watched from up above. Then one morning the sun woke up early, She smiled and stretched her beams wide. The world had been fully spring cleaned, It was time to go back outside! We opened our doors oh so slowly And breathed in the clean and fresh air. We promised that forever and always Of this beautiful world we’d take care! Hope everyone is still safe and healthy🤞
  5. This is an email that we received from our Payroll service (EYA) Please take a look at the link below, if you have some keyworkers but it is not viable for your setting to stay open, then please close and the parents can find another setting by contacting the local authority. It is vitally important that your group remains financially viable for when the get to the other side of this crisis.
  6. Exactly what I said yesterday!!
  7. Our LA is not saying that (at the moment) They are saying they are compiling a list of settings that are open to share with our parents.
  8. I am going to be honest and was totally shocked by the ‘key worker list’. So many jobs included on it. I only have two key workers and one has said they wouldn’t expect us to open and the other has been asking. How on earth could you provide a normal environment for one child? You just couldn’t. We are closing and that is that. I think all schools and settings in our area will go down the line of having a hub (we are very rural, tiny schools) so am going to sign post to that.
  9. Have you seen these that the Tapestry education team are putting together? They are great and we will definitely be sharing all of them with our parents as the weeks go on. Thank you Tapestry team😀
  10. Ahh Sunnyday I feel exactly the same. The thought of no summer term at all just leaves me speechless. I have a couple of families who have gone into isolation with symptoms and I will feel nothing but relief to not have to go into work. My parents are in their eighties and Dad has a weak chest and is increasingly frail and I worry continuously about the risk of passing something on. I made the difficult decision today not to go and see them due to being with said children yesterday. It will be a day of mixed feelings tomorrow. Very jealous of you having your eggs already and very sad that we will now not be doing our usual egg hunt! Enjoy your last day Sunnyday and stay healthy. Xx
  11. Well we already have home learning packs but these have equipment in and I don’t want to have to be washing things before I can lend them again. So I thought I would do printed activities, colouring sheets, cutting sheets, rhymes songs etc. Anything that can be printed onto A4, so no need to buy add extra resources. All I want is a tiny donation towards printing inks. I will get stuff off Twinkl and ideas from other sites etc. I have already posted the download that the Tapestry education team have made onto our Tapestry account. (It’s really good, everyone should have a look at it) One of my parents has suggested that I can do a video to the children setting them a challenge, which I will do but I like to be behind the camera not in front of it so that’s going to be my challenge! It would be good to hear what others may be planning to do.
  12. We are closing as we have no families that fall into those categories. I truly cannot get my head around how long this may be for. I am going to make up simple hone learning activity packs on a weekly basis and parents can collect from outside pre-school and also borrow any books as well. I have said I will also deliver to anyone self isolating or unable to drive. Have also been asked to do video challenges for the children. Surreal times.
  13. Just received confirmation that we will be fully funded whatever the situation during the summer term and instead of two payments they will be paying in full at the start of the summer term. 🙂
  14. I had a reply from my funding today saying that they are waiting for the higher management to make a decision which will hopefully be today. I do not understand what is taking them so long.
  15. A little positive news in uncertain times!
  16. That is what I am planning on doing (sod the committee) We have very few paying in the summer term. Those that do pay will not be required to pay. Just wondering if the school may see fit not to change us rent if we close!🤣 I cannot believe we have heard nothing from LEA about funding, have just emailed them and will wait and see.
  17. We are in the same situation with no back up and we would have to close.
  18. What are everyone’s plans for a closure with regard to wages?
  19. We have heard nothing from the LA.
  20. I’m with you Sunnyday, I cannot get my head around it.
  21. I have told parents that we will refuse entry to anyone with a temperature or new cough. I have also pleaded with parents to keep poorly children at home (those who would normally be sent in with a bad cold etc). I for one am glad we only have this week left. The advice in this country seems so, so muddled. Stay healthy everyone and keep washing those hands xx
  22. I am having a meeting with Mum tomorrow, she agrees about putting her back in pull ups for a while as well. I have printed out a load of info from ERIC and will pass that on to her. Hopefully we can just get her to relax and get her sparkle back, that to me is the most important thing at the moment.
  23. I need some advice please from you people of wisdom! We currently have a little girl who will be three in May. She started with us in November. She is a bright, happy and sparky little character. Mum had tried potty training before she came to us, without any success so at our first meeting I told her not to worry and to just stop and we would see what happens once she was settled with us and had opportunity to see the other children toileting etc. This did work and she showed an interest in using the toilet and was soon in pants and doing well. However she has developed a real fear now of doing a poo and gets so distressed when she needs one. This has also now increased the amount of wet accidents that she is having. Yesterday she spent much of the day upset because she either needed the toilet or because she had an accident. This seems to be affecting her so much and she has lost her special little sparkle and it’s so horrible to see and I am concerned that she is now holding onto her poo which is not healthy and will became a hard habit to break. I am working with her Mum closely as she is concerned and having the same problems at home. I wondered if the pressure needs to be taken of this little one completely and just to pop her back into pull ups for a few weeks. (To make very clear its not pressure from us or Mum, it’s what she is putting on herself) Still encourage using the potty for wees as usual but it might just get her bowels working normally again and kick start a normal routine. Any advice would be most welcome.
