  1. The hyacinths I hid in the fridge 10 weeks ago, have been out for a couple of days and have now, begun to show promise of becoming oh my actual goodness, to coin a phrase, hyacinth plants!
  2. Feels the need for a recap on this page! So it comes in a variety of colours It has a lid Some school children might have one
  3. might as well have been! I was ironing! earlier and noticed our shoe shine thingy and thought similar shape
  4. Not at all Sunnyday. You who are the most upbeat of all of us and ready for a quick witted response keep all our morals up day in day out. Not surprisingly you are worried for Mr. S. and yourself. Being stuck in for a large majority of the time for someone so "sunny" is a hard thing to do. Thank goodness we are all able to share on here
  5. instant shoe shine protector
  6. I completely understand what you mean Louby loo, we are though, very lucky to have excellent interaction sources like facetime etc. which previous generations wouldn't have had during other states of emergency. Although your neighbour may really miss a hug - you could "meet" over the fence for your cup of tea and cake if that type of thing is possible, get your best early years inventive hat on and try to meet this head on.

  8. that is soooo me! Louby loo, the amount of stuff I have stored in my special "secret safe" place over the years, then forget I have it.
  9. yes must be - think the shadow must have formed quite late in the day - its very l - o - n - g
  10. basket handle or perhaps if we are being super posh, and why not, the cake stand handle
  11. DITTO ! Also grateful they had all the things my lovely neighbour put on her shopping list :O)
  12. I had much the same experience, but eldest son and grandchildren. Youngest, 5, couldn't quite get the hang of social distancing. Eldest granddaughter doing "Romans" before school finished and they treated me to their roman numeral counting song and dance, very good.
  13. after a challenging shopping experience or two this week, our local Tesco had excellent supplies this morning at about 10 am. I hope they do manage to persuade the public that the food is "there" they just need to get the supply chain moving up a gear for a while.

  15. it would be a big surprise if LEA's didn't honour funding. To them this is "dead" money - they have budgeted for it. Far more difficult for parents paying fees to honour their side, technically they should be budgeting for their child's fees, but in reality not many parents really ring fence that money and would feel aggrieved at having to pay for something they are not actually getting the benefit of.
  16. lots of posts from you this afternoon Sunnyday - bit bored are we?. I had a similar parent a number of years ago we were a nano second away from describing her as Mrs. Munchhausen (too wicked), as is my way, I was incredibly patient with this woman, that made her worse, so I think you have done the right thing and I don't think the bolt of lightening will be coming your way any time soon.
  17. any idea at all what started the fear off? Did she have constipation and really painful poo? and now connecting the two things
  18. It will be a good thing to see it through Finleysmaid. Once done you will know for the future and word will get out that you do pursue debts, not a bad thing.
  19. Obviously not always the case, heaven forbid, BUT some people do know how to play us I'm afraid, and I can understand just how the amount began to gradually increase over time. Shame in one sense because it will make you a little more cynical next time maybe, and who could blame you for that.
  20. https://www.gov.uk/make-court-claim-for-money/court-fees Have you had a look at this Finleysmaid? Years ago my employer, (former owner of my pre-school) was successful in using this service.
  21. have you tried laminating them twice? we used to do that, with the wide border you have said,
  22. We had a setting nearby to ours which "charged" a voluntary fee, effectively a top up, but was "voluntary" and parents in the main were happy to part with the cash. A reasonably affluent area, but still rather normal families, nothing too outrageous. Local authority knew about the situation and were quite happy with it, I haven't checked but I have no reason to suspect any change, as I knew the owner rather well.
  23. I think this is a tricky one for parents to really get to grips with. Maybe clearly showing the figures as a scenario say, for "child A" who attends X hours their funding against your true hourly cost. Lay the figures out as simply as you can, surely then most people can see the maths.
