  1. yes the portal is going to be interesting ...doesn't open till the end of the month and it's the start of a new tax year
  2. Hi Cait..there was a discussion on here last night about this Yes it is to do with copyright but i don't think any author would be too worried at this time! however there are loads that have given permission (on google)
  3. my husband may know the answer to this one but i've thrown him out on to the allotment...i'll get back to you. I have sent a letter to the staff asking if they would accept furlough (as it is a change in contract you have to ask ! ) but as the alternative is you might not get paid then i think i know what they will answer
  4. I don't know that it was them i think it was a question from a member and they just haven't caught up. The government policy is Very clear. I really wouldn't worry about not getting it. If you want the evidence it's here in black and white! https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-early-years-and-childcare-closures/coronavirus-covid-19-early-years-and-childcare-closures#funding
  5. The government has announced a package of support for workers and businesses which will benefit childcare providers. The Chancellor has announced that childcare providers will be eligible for a business rates holiday for one year. That means non-local authority providers of childcare (registered with Ofsted and providing EYFS) will pay no business rates in 2020 to 2021, from 1 April. Local authorities will be working on this. Nurseries in receipt of small business rate relief or rural rate relief will benefit from small business grant funding of £10,000. This includes nurseries who are eligible for a charitable status relief – they will also pay no business rates at all in 2020 to 2021. Some settings operate from shared spaces which may now benefit from a 100% rates relief. We strongly encourage those shared spaces to reflect any business rates saving in their rent charges. The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme means that for employees who are not working but kept on payroll, the government will contribute 80% of each worker’s wages of up to £2,500, backdated to 1 March 2020. Providers can access this scheme while continuing to be paid the early entitlements funding via local authorities. The Business Interruption Loan Scheme will now be interest-free for 12 months (rather than 6). This is from the government site....the original question regarding the query of whether we would get this i think came from an enquiry which should have been quashed as soon as this gov advice came out!
  6. Can i ask why you can't claim? (maybe i've misunderstood??)
  7. We have given everyone a credit note...to be used for any of our services (including after school care) up until december if they paid their fees for last term. We have not made any new bills up since the closure. we have 2 parents who are behind in payments so they must pay for the services they have taken.
  8. As long as they are not getting paid for a job (and it's going through PAYE) it should be fine. They are allowed to volunteer to do jobs. They could be volunteering for you. We have also had the same situation as my deputy is in charge of a vunerable family's care and needs to contact them regularly. I think in this current climate that the governement are not going to be worried about things like this. but i have also had the same thoughts!
  9. I was really brave today and sang to the children on tapestry. (poor kids!) one of my parents played it through their TV...her son now thinks i am a TV star!
  10. the corner chop at cockleberry bay has won lots of awards (its on kindle too ) i havent read it but thought i might have a go at it....can't remember the last time i read a non work book
  11. if you are really concerned Pooh there are lots of authors who have announced that you may use their books and stories copyright free for a period of time. Google it..i'm sure you will find lots of links there!
  12. I have also been told that giving them credit (IE telling who the author and illustrator are) is supposed to support this idea of publicly reading books. Though this may be erroneous!
  13. Im thinking we may get a half term in between june10th and july finish. (so about 6 weeks) i hope so and then back to normal for september?? or is that being too hopeful? otherwise i did wonder if the government might try to get us to stay open for some of the holidays to catch up as it were.?
  14. bloomin heck what is the matter with me..... VEG!
  15. we had a beg box yesterday ...it was like christmas!! simple things eh?
  16. i was going to say how many of us have periscopes at home...but then we are early years people so maybe quite a few!!!
