  1. Wouldn't hold your breath for that around here! You could have all the points in the world...still no housing!
  2. recently found out that survey monkey is not GDPR compliant (US company) however google forms do surveys and they are printable which survey monkey is not if you want for your sef folder,
  3. be careful you haven't got a munchausen by proxy mum on your hands!! mental health issues not uncommon. I assume the HV doesn't have anything on the system for this family?
  4. if you have priced your 'supply' costs properly then you should not be offering discounts...if you need to make XXX amount of profit in order to run then why would you?...as you can tell i do not offer discounts and have been asked many times...none of those enquiries resulted in them changing their mind when i said no!
  5. AH have you both been in my setting today??!! had a prospective parent in today...they didn't look impressed!! We keep talking about this issue with the team and i think it's just a case of plodding on... we do sometimes reward the goodies with a sticker (not my favourite behaviour strategy but seems to work with this group) I think a/ children have too many things b/ they are plastic and unbreakable c/they have play rooms and are not expected to tidy up at home d/ they spend way too much time on tablets/screens which do not require tidying up or indeed interacting with!
  6. Nut allergy?? even if it doesn't list nuts it will ahve been made in a nut zone
  7. when you say bird feeder are you talking about a wooden one or a food one????
  8. assessing quality in early years childhood education and care? (SSTEW) siraj/kingston and melhuish might fit the bill ..i bought from amazon
  9. We had a child last year who was intolerant to sunflower products (as well as quite a few other things) not at all common but can happen. It's a pretty safe carrier for things and i doubt you will find another child who ever reacts like this! Horrid experience though sorry you had to go through that but glad she's returning that's always a good sign! I suppose tha only thing you could do is a patch test system to check..get the manufacturer to provide small packets to send out the week before????
  10. I have come to the conclusion that i have to embrace some technology but in my setting the teachers have tablets and use them with the children in order to improve their knowledge and understanding of the world ...so for instance taking a photo to show their parents or looking up what sort of ladybird we've found, playing nursery rhymes in different languages or listening to the noise a siren makes (fire engines DO NOT go nee-naw nee-naw!!!!!) I agree that PC's are no longer used in most settings including schools and tablets are the way to go if you choose to use them.. I think the trick is to use them as a tool not an entertainment,
  11. I dont think it does anyone any harm to have a moan (this weather doesnt help) bit its nice to think of something positive a day IF you can
  12. Reasons to be cheerful parts 1/2/3 !! (you'd have to be of a certain age to get that reference) Good stuff...ive been at an in the moment planning training with Anna Ephgrave. Havent been to a course for so long it was great to get out of the setting and have a chat with others. I think i should probably apologise for being one of those annoying people who keep asking questions....i got giddy! One of my little ones (ASD) hung her coat up for the first time! small wins!!! I'm having friday off to go away for the weekend with Finley and the hubby
  13. Yes the parental consent issue is a thorny one. most of ours will do a SALT call if we say so and downplay it also we tell them how long the waiting list is so to do it now and then if they don't need it when it comes around it doesnt matter!! this seems to work ...i don't use the word therapy for my Polish families as they have an issue with this i just use help. We tend to offer to do referrals for them and fill in the paperwork once weve got them to sign it off Haven't had a senco visit for years either..we have a part time one for the borough (with less experience than myself!) we do use the 2 year old check to talk through the info though which sometimes helps
  14. Wouldn't you pass them on to other agencies? like refer to SALT or organise Peadiatrician referral? maybe even refer to early help if needed??? do you not have a way of contacting agencies through your SEND dept or LEA?
  15. so do you think that the checks done at pre-school age will continue and the HV's will only do those few not attending a setting?? (good way of saving money i suppose!!!)
  16. Thanks for the nudge Mundia...again i feel concerned that my children with EAL and SEND are going to struggle with this prescriptive curriculum ....i continually ask myself WHY Britain has gone down this route when all other highly educated countries lead a play based curriculum unitl 6/7 and do SO much better than our poor children who are forced to 'learn' in a retricted way from the age of 2
  17. the HV one is due to be reviewed in february
  18. this from the NHS website 2 to 2-and-a-half years At 2 to 2-and-a-half years your child will have another health and development review. It's best if you and your partner can both be there. This is usually done by a nursery nurse or health visitor, and may happen at your home, baby clinic or the children's centre. If your child has started going to nursery, playgroup or a childminder, the review may be done there. You, your health visitor, your child's early years keyworker or childminder will all do the review together. You'll be sent an ASQ-3 questionnaire about your baby's development to fill in before the review. Your health visitor or your child's keyworker or childminder can help you with this. This review will cover: general development, including movement, speech, social skills and behaviour, and hearing and vision growth, healthy eating and keeping active managing behaviour and encouraging good sleeping habits tooth brushing and going to the dentist keeping your child safe Media review due: 5 April 2020 Page last reviewed: 9 February 2017 Next review due: 9 February 2020 Well the red underlined bits jumped out for me...since when has it been 2 to 2 and a half??? and has anyone ever done a 2 year old check with an HV??????????????!!!!!!! © Crown copyright
